Hero: Using Blockchain to Promote Finance

A new cryptocurrency project, Hero, aims to provide banking services to the unbanked of Southeast Asia, and the team has been actively developing a platform on top of the Ethereum blockchain to accomplish this. The project is headquartered in Switzerland with the aim of bringing financial inclusion to millions of people lacking essential financial services.

As stated in the official Bitcointalk ANN thread, the project is backed by venture capitalists such as Softbank and Alibaba. The project has operated a virtual pawnshop, Pawnhero, since 2015 using the internet to lower interest rates for borrowers by up to 50 percent. With this service, mobile phones have been turned into pawnshops. Leveraging technology in this manner has had the effect of improving livelihoods in unserved and underserved communities of Southeast Asia. Having served the banking needs of Southeast Asian communities for two years gives the project a large base of users from which to draw for its blockchain platform.

The Hero Origen Token (HERO), which is ERC20 compatible, is the Hero token available to early investors and stakeholders, and it allows participation on the Hero platform and special perks that will be unavailable to future Hero token holders. Those owning 200 or more Hero Origin Tokens will get special access to issue credit and loans to borrowers on the platform with rates adjusted for risk, and other funding opportunities.

As stated in the whitepaper, the ownership of Hero Origen Tokens will confer other benefits, such as receiving 20 percent of the interest payments from users of the platform. These payments will be issued in Ether (ETH) to specified addresses each quarter. The amount of interest given to token holders will depend on the number of tokens owned. Eventually, the project aims to distribute these payments on a monthly basis.

The presale for Hero Origen Tokens will begin November 20, 2017, and purchasing them will require signing up to membership.herotoken.io and providing a valid government-issued ID. The presale will take place for a total of four weeks. Each Hero Origen Token will be sold for .005 ETH. The earlier these tokens are purchased, the better the bonuses will be for investors, essentially giving them a discount. The limit of funding for the creation of these tokens during the presale is 250,000 ETH.
